The renowned performance artist Laurie Anderson reveals the creative process behind her piece of art called ARK. Inspired by the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark, the stage show fuses music, storytelling and visual art and challenges audiences to reflect on some of the most pressing issues of our times, including climate change, artificial intelligence, and societal disconnection.
At the heart of ARK is the question, “We’ve made the flood, but can we build an ark?“, which can be thought of as both a metaphor for humanity’s role in global crises and a call to collective action that can drive change. Complete with projections that evoke dream-like sequences and stark realities of modern life alike, ARK creates a uniquely immersive experience that explores the consequences of technological progress, the impact of the digital world on human relationships, and the growing sense of isolation in an era dominated by screens and algorithms.
